In Practice – as opposed to 'in theory'
Beta 2026 proposes a shift in perspective: from architecture as representation to architecture as practice.
Under the theme In Practice – as opposed to ‘in theory’, the biennial brings to the forefront the real processes behind the built environment - materials, constraints, decisions and the people who shape them.
Starting on May 15, Beta activates the city as a space for work and encounter, where architecture is not only exhibited but directly explored through interventions, installations and dedicated programmes. This year’s edition places emphasis on what already exists: buildings, spaces, contexts, and on how these can be reinterpreted and transformed through action.
The biennial creates an open framework for dialogue between professionals, students and the wider public, bringing together different perspectives on the city and on how it can be inhabited and understood.
